This served as the primary workbench for my now defunct bicycle repair studio in Portland, Oregon from 2012 to 2016.
It seems barely worth mentioning, because everything about it was done in the simplest possible way. And yet I miss it fondly, it was my favorite workbench to date. Built entirely with salvaged materials, the legs and braces from a shed my friends and I dismantled, and the top from a quite solid plywood panel that another friend gave to me. 3’ x 5’ proved to be a great dimension, and it was tall enough that other things could be stored underneath and seen easily. It was heavy enough to provide a solid mount for the ~65lb vise while freestanding, with no wall or floor attachment.
Fabrication Notes:
No joinery whatsoever, only nails. Nails driven through the top down into the legs, hammered and sanded flat. The tabletop had one plastic veneer surface, which I put facing down, as it would not withstand extended use.
